Diabetes swollen legs: Why many are losing the limbs to amputation

A diabetic agency is sounding the alarm in Europe about diabetes swollen legs leading to record numbers of amputations, it is clear that the high blood sugar crisis that has effected much of the world is leading to the loss of limbs. High blood sugar is a damaging illness that can cause the death of the body part. Many patients with diabetes swollen legs are not getting immediate treatment and this is causing unnecessary amputations in thousands.

How the limb is loss

In a healthy person insulin wonderfully carries glucose into the cells and this gives you healthy energy and low body fat but this is not the case with the diabetic, the diabetic has cells that do not let the glucose into the cell “The cell is resistant to insulin”, the glucose which should go into the cell does not but instead floods the bloodstream. This is where we get the phrase “high blood sugar”,the glucose is flooding the bloodstream instead of going in the cell. Diabetes swollen legs are a sign of nerve and circulation damage due to the excess glucose living in the bloodstream.
